SPEECH THERAPY EVALUATION

A speech therapy evaluation is customized based on parent concerns, child’s age, medical conditions, and current speech development. Your speech therapist may complete standardized assessment in addition to conducting a parent interview and observing your child complete various expressive and receptive language tasks.

  • Evaluations are scheduled by Crane’s pediatric Patient Care Coordinator who will provide information regarding cost and procedure. The cost of an evaluation is contingent on your insurance. All payment information will be detailed to you in advance of your evaluation. Please call our Patient Care Coordinator at (504)866-6990 for additional information if you are interested in scheduling a speech therapy evaluation.

  • You will be sent fillable documents to complete via email that are pertinent to making your child's evaluation tailored specifically to them.

  • On the day of the evaluation, please arrive a few minutes early to check in with our front desk and complete any additional paperwork. A parent or guardian must be present for the evaluation. The therapist will greet you and interview you regarding your concerns in addition to reviewing your child's medical history prior to establishing goals for therapy.

  • Speech therapy evaluations are scheduled for a 60 minute duration. Feeding therapy evaluations are typically scheduled for a 90 minute duration.

  • Following the collection of data and completion of the assessment, the therapist will review findings and create a custom plan of care for your child.

  • If therapy was recommended, our front desk will reach out to you in order to schedule your child for treatment. Please note that your child's therapy may be scheduled with a different clinician than completed the initial evaluation.
